I have fun with them. Right now I have 2 electric vehicles. A Losi XXX-4G+ buggy and a Traxxas Rustler.

The Losi is pretty much stock. I have a Novak XBR Sport 8.5 Motor and ESC in it. Using a jr racing xr2 transmitter.

My Rustler though, is no where near stock. It started out as a regular XL5 but now runs a velineon ESC, Trinity duo 5.5 turn motor. Upgraded metal gear trans, graphite front shock tower, RCM carbon fiber/graphite chassis. Proline wheels and tires. Integy 30 deg caster bars, VXL upgraded tie rods, RPM front steering carriers, and a list of other upgrades, including a desert rat body that I spray canned down here.

I guess my OH could be considered an expert, as he spends so much time trying to fix the ones that the kids have trashed driving into wallks & off steps!

That reminds me of visiting the park just after Christmas. There were a couple of despondant looking kids sitting on a banch whilst the fathers 'tested' the shiny new RC 4x4. Just showing the kids 'how it worked' wonder if those kids ever got a go?!
