Not Riding My Pony in the Snow

Postby sheenaramone on Tue Sep 02, 2008 4:53 pm

I've decided I am not going to drive my Mustang this winter. I bought a 2 dr 08 Focus and would post a picture of it, but, meh, who cares? I found this article about storing Mustangs http://mustangs.about.com/od/maintenance/tp/mustang-storage.htm This article seems to be aimed more at vintage Mustangs.

We had a horrible winter here last year with snow on the ground from December through March and a blizzard about every weekend there for a while. But if there are nice days and the roads are dry, I am going to want to get it out. So I guess I won't be doing the "take the tires off" part. But I do plan to do the oil change once the racing season is over and I wonder if changing the coolant is necessary since this is a new car (2008).

that's a great article, some of those things I never would have thought of! I wish I could put my baby away for the winter but it's my one and only drive to school, back and all around...it's a trip to drive when we get snow...but hey, a little easier to flip a doughnut...lol!

It wouldn't hurt to get in changed but probably not necessary. As long as you start up your car once a week or so and let it run for a bit you should be fine. As far as the tires you don't have to take them off. Just move it forward or backward every once in a while or better yet if you can drive it. Just so the tires aren't sitting on the same spot the whole time.
It's just another slow pony, I swear!

Modern radials, do not develop flat spots, like the old bias plys did.
