Racing

We have all done it or at least wanted to. In earlier years we used to hit up some back country roads and I take it this is still the case unless you fork up some dough and visit a local track. Anyone that has been to a track what is the price to rent it out for an evening I never have though this came up in a conversation the other day and we are thinking about it (some local boys and myself).

Okay, well since you asked, I guess I can admit it, lol.

Back in high school, I lived out in the country and there was this one long paved road that was perfect for racing. It was just as straight as can be, but way out there where no one really was often, so it couldn't have been better. We didn't do it often because of the fear of getting caught, but it was so much fun. I used to love driving that path alone, too, because I could see just how fast I could get her up to.

I have raced in my teenage days but only on backroads and roads that were shut down because we couldn't afford to rent out a track. Those were fun times until we found out that it was illegal in our state ;)

I'm not going to lie, I race almost everywhere, still being a teenager with the invincability-complex I've raced on country roads, the local highway, or any road that i happen to be on really. At the same time, wednesday nights are really cheap at my local strip and you have the options of racing a cop who comes out in a Crown Vic which is quite fun though stupidly it showed me, at least with the last engine I had that I could smoke a cop no problem...doesn't do much for making me follow the law haha

I've done a decent amount of racing in my time on the rack and on the street. I don't street race really anymore. I'll take it light to light or something if the conditions are right. no traffic no pedestrians and dry pavement. I used to go to PIR every weekend and atleast watch the drags or compete but since I had joined the military the town I was in only had a really crappy 1/8th mile so I haven't been to a strip in a good minute.
It's just another slow pony, I swear!

An ex of mine used to work at an airplane maintenance place & they had a disused airstrip there which the bosses would turn a blind eye to us racing on out of hours.

I think the invincability-complex still happens to many adults. I would do light to light for awhile too but then moved into a larger area where it wasnt the smartest idea. I watched many people busted for it so now it would just be the track. One my sister suggested does only race cars (not street, but more like nascar type) and its about $500/session.

We have an old strip of road that is no longer in use so the town got permission to use it as an unofficial race track to reduce the number of people racing on roads that get traffic. it works too because the road is awesome
