I've been googling, but I can't find an answer. How did Mustangs originally get their name?

It was coined by the lead designer, and named after the P51 Mustang which he took influence from. And it's kind of funny, I can't find much on the net about it either.

Thanks for the Phil Clark info. I'd not come across that before. Will keep me occupied reading through it all, looks like there's allot of stuff there.
