Suspension, Rims, Looks, what would you do????

Postby KingApathy on Tue Mar 25, 2008 10:19 am

Well these are the three decisions giving me the most trouble right now, and I am a firm believer of only building your car for yourself but i still like imput from other's.
suspension wise i am fairly sure i want to run a coilover set up..but what brand, what brand do you guys like best? or do you feel i should go a different route..like the BMR stage two handling package?

Wheels..this is a tough one for me, i love the way 20's look on the S197's but it is to much wheel for what i have planned..i will be spending ALOT of time in the cascades in oregon so i will definitely be running an 18" rim for those curves plus i will hit portland international raceway atleast once a month for the 1320..imput on tires also please

on looks i am truly torn..i LOVE clean car's but also have respect for the show cars....i am thinking of just deleting the spoiler adding clear turn signals, and 18" drifz venom 506's and slamming it with the coilovers and calling it good, but then on the other hand a cdc chin spoiler, qrt. and , side scoops, and a cdc duck tail with 18" silver fr500's would look bad *ss and very "racy" ... what would you guy's do?!

drop it! mustangs look great lowered! fr500's are very sweet rims for the newer stangs for sure, they'd look great! I don't like 20's on mustangs...they seem a little to "showy" to me...stangs look good with 18's i think...don't know much about types of rubber but I got some toyo proxes on my car and they are pretty nice wet/dry traction and not to bad on the ice either.

Another vote for 18s, it's a lot more subtle. Going spoilerless and adding clears would look pretty nice too!

I would run some 18 inch bullits..chrome would look good
I dropped mine an inch in the front and a half inch in the back but I would maybe drop yours a little more because I think my car sits lower stock than yours does...
also I would put some deep dich rims on the back of your car, that would look awesome with some nice tires..I mean I am running Nitto 555r drag radials on my car all the time and I love it!
just some suggestions tho..but whatever you do im sure will look great!

Chrome 18s would be my vote. As for the body, keep it clean. I hate too many body add ons.

hey guys thanks for all your input, I know I am definitely running 18's 20's are big and heavy and i plan on doing some carving at PIR and up in the cascades in the summer...if I keep it clean they will also definitely be deep dish and chrome..I think for daily use i am going to run the bfg kdw2's 255/35 up front and probably a 285/40 in the rear. still as the look i am undecided.

I second that vote! That's a nice looking rim, I bet it would go great on a S197

Those rims would look great!, I agree with blue91's idea, those are some cool looking rims...although I've always liked the cobra r rims...not sure how they'd look a newer stang tho...
