What do you guys / gals do for a living?

Postby Jeremy on Fri Mar 28, 2008 5:41 pm

I'm just curious and want to get to know some of you better. What do you do for a living?

I'm a software developer/ webmaster for a systems security firm. It's even more boring than it sounds.

Some interesting stuff I've done:

Fast Food
Pulled Green Chain at a lumber mill
Oil change guy at Jiffy lube
Car Stereo Installer
tech at performance shop
mechanic at 4x4 shop
tow truck driver
Tech support
Network Administrator
CAD Drafter
Software Developer.

Some jobs I did great, some not so great, but at least it makes for an interesting last 15 years or so. So what do you guys do??

I'm a student only as of now,but I'm trying to get a job at famous footwear down the street from my house 8-)
But in the past 7 years of my life I've been:
Grocery store bottle counter/produce worker/box boy
Worked at a mechanic shop
Worked with home health and hospice
worked at the county treasurers office

I'm still gettin started but hopefully someday I plan to become an architect by attending OIT for my degree in CAD.

Can I answer everything and anything? :D Most of it is all geek related in some way or another (hosting, design - slowly taking over the geek world one step at a time). Otherwise I am just a parent which is a full time job as well.

OIT is one of the best schools on the west coast for that sort of thing. ITT is where most of the drafters I know went, and it's cheaper but OIT is so much better of an education, and opens a lot more doors. I highly recommend it. I'm thinking of going back to school for software engineering at OIT if I can ever muster up the time and pay off the rest of my current student loans.

Glenn served 2 years in the Navy on the USS Chukawan which was a fleet oiler, worked for 30+ years as a tire builder for BFGoodrich. Since retiring 3 years ago from BFG Glenn has worked part-time for Jerry Rasbury Fabrication doing sheet metal work on drag cars and most recently starting working part-time for O'Reilly's delivering parts.

Penny is currently working full time as a secretary for the county engineer, before that she owned a restaurant. Has an interest in photography and web site building - currently maintaining Noland Racin's web site, 2 myspace pages, a YouTube album, a yahoo race group page (which is in serious need of an update), Webshots photo album (can Google "SuthernStang" & find links to all our sites) & recently built a page for future grand baby.
When it stops being fun, we'll call it quits
