Hey!

I've got a 67 Mustang Coup. I'm only the second owner. Since my wife wants to drive the car and has never had to deal with a car that has front wheel drum brakes, I did the Grenda disk brake upgrade. Cheap, slick, works great, few issues provided you steal the brake lines and proportioning valve from the donor car.

Sadly there is a catch. The new disk calipers make contact with the weights on the inner face of the front rims. So it's bend over Betty.

Anyone know if any baby moon rims or which American Racing rims (that look like the Crager SS II Series) will fit? I need offset, diameter and recommended tire size.

PS you guys remember what it was like with front drum brakes right? You had to ride the brake if you went through water otherwise one wheel would grab and the other do nothing so you'd be doing lane changes into trees without time to even think about it. Ah the excite of driving older vehicles.

It's hitting the wheel weights, right? How much clearance is needed? If it's pretty close, you could always take a grinder to the caliper. Most of the time they are just pot metal that comes off with a small grinder. I have rounded out the corners and taken a couple millimeters off the top before,and had no problems. I wouldn't suggest removing a half inch off or anything, but mild grinding for clearance wont hurt it. Shoot some black spray paint over it when you're done and it's good to go!

And yes, I've driven drums in front before, that is definitely an adventure! Definitely not fun slowing down from 100+ mph either. (Not that I would ever do something like that on a public highway).
