The official numbers are in, I have now blown 4 coils off cylinder 1...All I was doing was chasing my brother in his trans am on my way up to college, trying to catch up to my parents that had left 45 minutes before us. Suddenly my check engine light started flashing and things started feelings very wrong. we pulled over and popped the hood just in time for my car to putter out. Anyone who knows mustangs knows that the flashing check engine light means misfire so I slow hobbled along to the first garage I could get to- 40 minutes away. Now here we are just about 2 hours from home, car completely loaded down with clothes and the like, and a serious misfire. So the garage ran a diagnostic and found cylinder 1 to be the problem. They replaced the coil with an OEM Ford one and i test drove it, 3 blocks later, BAM. The garage replaces that coil with another OEM ford, thinking that was a defective one anfd this time the garage manager drives it, 3 blocks later, same issue...so we try a new spark plug and a new aftermarket coil. works good, even after test drive. I hop in and we take off...right away I notice something wrong with my baby...45 minutes of highway later, BAM...same thing...we happened to pull ovre right across from a napa auto parts so we pick up another and put it on...just hoping to make it an hour and a half more...but the biggest challene lies ahead...I-5...anyways, we make it all the way here, but now every time I drive my mustang, things just don't feel right...feels kinda jerky, not so smooth acceleration, and a little more feedback in the steering wheel than normal...very frustrating...anybody have any ideas? did that whole mess screw up my heads? HELP!!
