Good luck with the fix, and serpentine belts are evil. I ended up playing in a new car once that we had just got and the serpentine belt snapped off and fun for me I drove about 8 blocks home without power steering. So not cool the first week you get a car.

UPDATE: I tried water, made the belt squeel but didn't help the noise. I looked for a glaze but didn't swee any on the belt...it looked normal to me. and it seemed like sometimes when I turn the car off it made the noise...also the when the rpms were lkow is when the noise was there, not usually in high rpms...any other suggestions?

did you check to see if it was the A/C clutch yet? turn on your A/C and see if it still makes the noise

Try this, hood open, engine running, rev engine at the throttle body, give it some good revs. As you rev the engine you noise(source) should become apparent. I bet Dollars to doughnuts, that under load, your tension pulley is screaming at you.

I did the clutch thing and it made the noise stop, but i only notice the noise when it's at a low idle or when i turn it off, right before the engine completely stops the rpms. It's not a screeming noise, it's more like a can with small pebbles inside of it....maybe gear teeth or something like that?

today that horrible crunching noise turned into a horrible squealing noise, so I decided enough was enough and I had better figure out what's up. So i stopped by a ford dealer, they came out and prodded and looked and listened, finally concluding that the sound was the tensioner... So now i need a new tensioner...anybody know how much these things cost or if there is anyway to get one with a set of underdrive pullies...I've been looking into getting some of them and It'd be easier to buy a new tensioner if I knew I would be getting some extra power too!!

Even with under drive pulleys, you will use the same tensioner. Replace it. It's simple, and probably cost less than a new belt(50.00 bucks?).
