Steering wheel shaking ,and it feels like it hesitates when

Postby soldier_girl718 on Tue Apr 22, 2008 7:44 pm

I have a 2003 Mustang V6 . I bought it used and I do know it had a minor fender bender before I bought it . I dont know if this has anything to do with it BUT when driving on the city streets the steering wheels shakes ALOT ! Ive had the tires balanced and it still shakes. Im not sure if an alignment will help or not because when Im on the highway the c ar is fine.ANother problem Im having is when I first take off from a red light or when im driving up hill my car kinda feels like it hesitates.Kinda like Blllllah when it goes up hill. Anyone have any clue what this could be and how I can fix the problem ?? :|

for the shake, check to see if your struts are loose. Sounds crazy I kn ow but it happened to a guy over in Germany I know. as for the hesitation, whens the last time you had it serviced? Fuel filter ever changed out?

I agree with hotrod, check your struts, I had a 87 duster and it's struts were loose somehow and ended up screwing the tires up, not to mention the annoying wheel shake!

yup, def sounds like the struts. or the place that did em sucks at balancing tires. with the hesitation, well where did you take the car to get serviced? sounds like you might have been taken advantage of.

Hesitation is most likely caused by a restricted fuel filter. Filter costs less than 15.00 bucks. I wouldn't let just anybody replace it. Fuel system must be depressurized. That is done by disconnecting the fuel pump relay, in the trunk(left side, under the molded wall). Idle your engine untill it starves its self of fuel. then remove filter(with aide of special fuel line tool). As per the shimmy. Did you have you tires(front) aligned, when you replaced them?

I’m thinking that something has loosened in your car. You should check it out for loose parts.

I'd go with the fuel filter.

After similar hesitation problems which no-one could identify, particularly on start up, i discovered that my fuel cap allowed rain into the tank if it rained from a certain angle. I had it in several garaged before they spotted it.
