Ya, I was really lucky to make it out with only some scrapes and sore muscles, the top was down and because it was my first wreck so I was freakin out...I didn't have a clue what happened at that time and the other guy was all over turning everything into my fault. i was going the speed limit, which on that road was 35, and as you can see in the bottom pictures the guiy hit me and knocked me rolling about 200 feet down the road and then took out a telephone pole. He was in his 30's and I was nineteen at the time so the cops probably thought they knew what happened before they even heard my story... but I made it out ok, I bought the car for 4200 and put a new top and new tires on it and then got hit and the insurance gave me blue book for excellent which was like 6200...I got a couple grand from my bank and got my new 99 GT. I really miss the topless feeling but when I miss that I just go smoke burn rubber and I feel a little better

It sounds really odd, but for that reason alone (a wreck) I don't like topless cars. I mean I like them to look at, but not to drive in. I guess I am just weird. I had a guy run a red light hit me/friend head on (she was driving) doing about the same MPH and we ended up with physical therapy for about a year, not cool at all. Wasnt in a mustang, but the card held together. The only thing I can say for the angle that dude hit you is that Ford made some good heavy doors to hold that impact on the side of the car. When we got hit, they had clipped the front left of the car, bounced off us, landed about 30 feet in a sideways direction and we were pushed about 5' back.

Good on the 99 also, when I get one if it can not be brand new, I am thinking between 99-01 since Im not super fond of the other "slight" body changes. ;)

Here too, I don't feel quite safe in a soft top. I know it's not logical as they've got all the safety gimos these days, but a ex b/friend of my sister sported a scar from turning over in one which has sort of stayed with me. It looks like he was scalped.

Aye, I have to agree a softtop car doesn't feel as stable as a topped one. I just don't like the idea of flying through the room for some reason. Not that bouncing off it would injure you any less.
