Did that with a Steyr AUG before.. is not a pleasant experience. Especially when everyone's laughing their heads off at you.

steyr augs are sweet! i've always wanted to shoot one of those!! did it kick? one of my friends rested his eye on the scope of a 30.06 and pulled a world of hurt on himself...that was nasty to see!! i got stitches to close my gash but he just used some butterfly band aids because he didn't have insurance! it looks prety bad now that it's all healed shut

It's stuff like that happening that puts me off shooting. I have an aquaintance who's always on at me to try, but I'm really not into it.

Moo-
Just go with somebody who's looking out for you and you trust if your not familiar with shooting. Otherwise you get some jerk who thinks that it's funny to tell you that your 12 guage won't kick any more than a bb gun or somebody who shoots metal objects with shotguns from 3 feet. Also, I'd reccomend starting with something small like a 22 or a 4 10, that way you'll get used to holding a gun and feeling a kick, then you can move up to the big guns! (pun intended)
And just as a person warning,
-Stay away from the scope.
-Don't point blank ANYTHING, especially a tree with thick bark.
-Avoid shooting steel plates...with anything

mind those and you should be good, haha...

The guy who's offering to teach me shoots for a living, so I guess I trust him to teach me safely. I expect I'll cave in some day & give it a go.
