The MP40 fires the commonly used 9mm Parabellum cartridge, the Germans invented the 9mm parabellum in 1902 for the Luger pistol - it is usually referred to as the 9mm Luger cartridge. They definitely have a history behind them and they are fun to shoot. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp40

The gun at 4:12 is an automatic AR-15 SBR with no flash suppressor. SBR stands for short barreled rifle, I believe that rifle's barrel is 10.5". Anything less than 16" requires a federal & CLEO approval and you also have to pay a $200 tax to own a fully-automatic firearm as well, upon approval and as long as your state allows them...

Here is some more info on the National Firearms Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

It is interesting reading and a lot of Americans don't even know these laws exist or that you can own a fully-automatic weapon if you have a clean criminal record, $1000's to spare and a lot of patience waiting for the forms to get approved.

I'm fully expecting to get shot down in flames here as I know there's a fair few keen shooters on the forum, but WTF would anyone need to own a fully automatic weapon anyway?

I can't say I knew there was a legal process to own them either. I know they're fun and all, but I only know illegal owners of them, lol.

Think of it like this: You drive a mustang and have driven it for some time. Now, you're ready for something new and better and cooler and faster, so you get the next coolest thing (supercharger, nitrous, etc...) Now why would you need that kinda stuff? the speed limit is 55, 65 at most, and now you have a car capable of speeds in extreme excess of that limit. You need that stuff beacause you get bored of pushing that pedal and merely "going," you wanna push that pedal and tear things up So what's the point there? There really isn't... But who cares? It's awesome!!! Exactly the same with guns, you get bored of pulling the trigger and merely "shooting," you want to pull that trigger and tear things up!! :P (I tried to keep the flame throwing to a minimum! :geek: )
